Taking A Million Dollars Over Going To Syracuse For One Year Is The Biggest No-Brainer Ever
This is about as easy of a decision as I’ve ever seen. Sure, people criticized Darius Bazley for decommitting from Syracuse in order to join the G League for a year. And then sure people criticized Bazley even more for deciding not to play in the G League for a year and instead opt to train for the NBA Drat instead.
But, look who is laughing now. That man is the now millionaire Darius Bazley who signed with New Balance and could make up to $14 million. Show me one person who would willingly spend a year at Syracuse instead of making a million bucks. That person is a liar or related to Jim Boeheim. Only explanation.
Let’s be honest. It’s not like Syracuse is some destination spot. It’s cold as shit. I’m pretty sure it snows 8 months out of the year. I don’t want to deal with that. Hell, even the G League you don’t know where you’re ending up. You could get lucky and end up in like Austin or you could end up in Erie.
Bazley now has a million bucks and can train in theory wherever he wants. Absolute no-brainer. I don’t want to hear about Syracuse’s history. It’s awesome, no doubt about that. But, is it worth a million bucks? Nope. Give me that bag every goddamn day of the week and I’ll happily pass on college basketball – a sport that I love. I’ll take all the heckles for a million bucks.
How about New Balance though? Just dropping the bag and taking a risk. I absolutely love it. But, are we really about to get New Balance in the hoops game? Would be wild to see them and Puma try and make a push into it and challenge Nike/Adidas/Under Armour. Why not? The more shoe options the better. Plus, it’s more of a chance for kids to make money and take it whenever they want.
